The Mobile Area Dental Society (MADS) is a membership organization of dentists from Mobile, Baldwin, Choctaw and Washington counties in southwest Alabama. It is one of nine component District Dental Societies of the Alabama Dental Association comprising a tripartite system with the American Dental Association.
MISSION STATEMENT
MADS represents Mobile Area dentists and their efforts to provide quality dental care to the citizens of our area of the state. This effort is accomplished by the following:
- MADS is additionally committed to providing quality Continuing Education (CE) programs for the membership which help meet the CE requirements of the State of Alabama's Board of Dental Examiners' licensure requirements.
- Increasing the public awareness of children's dental needs through the following:
- Participation in the ADA sponsored Children's Dental Health Month held in February each year.
- School Screenings - First and Third Graders in the Mobile County Public School System are screened each year during February by MADS members.
- Smile Contest - MADS sponsors a Smile Contest among Third Graders from all elementary schools in the Mobile County Public Schools System.
- The Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) program is a national program in which MADS members provide oral health care for low-income children within our district.
- Support for the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.
- Sponsorships for educational programs such as local science fairs.
